I’m the eldest of the group: 40. Three children and a busy career have either kept me young or aged me prematurely (depends upon the day). My youngest is 7 months, and I am remembering that when they’re this little, treading water is just fine. I will organize my life, simplify, begin a regimen of muscle strengthening exercises, and get a makeover next year (yeah right).
While I have this fantasy that someday I may travel the world, learn another language, and become adventurous, I’ve always craved security and stability more. My husband and I have been married 22 years. We raised our son, who is now grown, in the same small town. We enjoy life in the country. Living near a major midwesten metropolitan area has afforded us great opportunities for work and everything else a large city can offer. Who am I kidding? We’re not great theatre-goers. But we have both commuted a lot for work and school.
Everone asks me why there is such a large age gap between our son and our two little daughters. I spent years in school and work building my career. Then, I came to the conclusion that while I mostly like my work, nothing compares with loving and nurturing my family.
